I HAVE AN ACCOUNT IN ALL THE HOSTING SITES I MENTIONED SO ALL THE OPINIONS/VIEWS I WILL BE STATING HERE WILL BE JUST BASED ON MY OWN OPINION.

1. PHOTOBUCKET

is an image hosting, video hosting, slideshow creation and photo sharing website. It was founded in 2003 by Alex Welch and Darren Crystal and received funding from Trinity Ventures.[2][3] It was acquired by Fox Interactive Media in 2007.

In December 2009, Fox's parent company, News Corp sold Photobucket to Seattle mobile imaging startup Ontela.

Photobucket is usually used for personal photographic albums, remote storage of avatars displayed on internet forums, and storage of videos. Photobucket's image hosting is often used for eBay, MySpace (now a corporate cousin), Bebo, Neopets and Facebook accounts, LiveJournals, Open Diarys, or other blogs, and message boards. Users may keep their albums private, allow password-protected guest access, or open them to the public.

Photobucket advertises 99.9% uptime, and offers 500MB free storage (reduced from 1GB on 19th August 2009). This reduction of storage space frustrated users, who were locked out of adding new images to their accounts unless they agreed to pay the upgrade fee. (Unlimited space with paid PRO account), Unlimited (was 100GB but went to 25GB in July 2008 and down to 10GB on August 19, 2009) monthly bandwidth. Unlimited space and bandwidth is valid only for non-commercial use. Uploaded photos must either be smaller than 1 MB or 1024x768 in size (5 MB or 2240x1680 with paid account), uploaded videos must be five minutes or shorter (10 min with paid account).

Photobucket supports FTP uploads, but the user must be a Pro account holder.Windows XP Publisher is supported as an alternative to FTP. It is available in free accounts.

Admin's note:I LOVE THIS SITE AND TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS. I use it everyday... Sometimes I would spend about 5 hours a day uploading images. It is the main site that I use for uploading DTL's images. I still use this even though DTL has its own hosting site because mainly I am more used to it plus it has more added features. All in all, this site is really great. The only negative thing that I can say about it though is the little storage that is given per free account which is 500MB. A decent 1GB per account would have been more reasonable. And also the bandwidth limit of 10GB per month is sort of really a negative point in this site's total aspect. I think it would be more okay if they could make it at least 20GB. I am currently using a PRO account. And all I can say is the PRO is really very good. There are times that I would just upgrade my free accounts in PB into PRO accounts for the sole purpose of just not having any problems concerning bandwidth limits. BUT>>> take note --- based on my opinion upgrading to a PRO is really not worth it especially if you're just using your PB for personal use or for free forum related matters. I think creating more accounts in PB would be better than upgrading since the price is kinda too high as a matter of fact. And I think instead of putting your money into a PB account... better just to buy stuff that you can actually enjoy like gadgets or even food.

2. IMAGESHACK

is a free image hosting website. ImageShack has a subscription service, but the majority of their revenue is produced from advertising related to their free image hosting. The imageshack.us Alexa ranking as of September 25, 2007 is one of the top 40's. According to Nielsen//NetRatings, ImageShack was the fourth fastest growing web brand in July, 2006.

The main page has a file selection field, where the user may select the image file to upload. The image file format must be either JPEG (JPG), PNG, GIF, TIFF (TIF), BMP, or SWF, and the file must be smaller than or equal to 5 megabytes. Uploaded BMP and TIFF (TIF) images are automatically converted to PNG format.

After the file is uploaded, the user is redirected to a page containing different versions of URLs to the uploaded image. These URLs are preformatted in a variety of HTML and Bulletin Board code snippets, which can be used to hotlink them on websites and message boards. These URLs are not listed publicly, therefore only the user and the people the user gives the URL to can know the file location. In mid-2008, Imageshack began 'hiding' the direct link to images, in an attempt to reduce the number of directly-linked images, as they provide no advertising revenue. After receiving feedback from users Imageshack discontinued 'hiding' the direct links and placed them on the top of the page.

Images are stored on ImageShack indefinitely unless the image or the user who uploaded it abuses the Terms of Service. The image will be rendered inaccessible if the image uses over 300 megabytes of bandwidth in a one-hour period. If the image in question is not accessed a single time in one year, they will remove it.

There is also a free registration service that gives the user the ability to see and delete their previously uploaded images.

In May 2006 it was reported that ImageShack serves 100,000 concurrent user requests during peak operation.

ImageShack has recently introduced a new standalone application (which also happens to be an open source application as well) for users to upload images and videos. The ImageShack uploader is available for Windows, Mac as well as Linux users.

Admin's note:I have an account here but I rarely use it. I don't know why but I just use it every now and then when PB is under maintenance or there is something wrong with my connection so I can't use PB. One thing I like about this site is its bandwidth limit. I think 300MB per hour is way more convenient and appropriate for someone who needs to maintain numerous images. Unlike in PB that you always end up praying whenever your account has already reached the danger mark... .

3. IMAGEBAM

is a Free image hosting and galleries for forums, blogs, ebay, craigslist, myspace, etc.

Admin's note:I really like this site because of it is really very easy to use and the uploads are fast too. Though the only thing that I can see that it is lacking are some additional features like advance editing images features like the ones in imageshack and photobucket. But I still use it especially the gallery system of this site is really very good, especially when you're posting images for a forum.
